We are in a part of the country that is getting the gross heat, over 100 most days with the heat index. Being from Alaska, this is pretty miserable. To top it off, the 13 year old is in summer camp this week. So, we are driving him for an hour in the morning and then hanging out until he is done six hours later. Most of the stuff I had planned for myself and the 11 year old were outside activities. I am literally melting.
I grabbed a book for this week to try and plow through while waiting. I picked up one of the Disney Twisted Tales, thinking it would be a fun and light read. Since I am not making rapid progress, I will post more on that later.
I am heading to the bookstore though to fill out our history book collection in preparation for school this year. Most of the books I am buying are on my colonial times list. We are using Guest Hollow for curriculum which has A Patriots History as the spine. I will get that added to the reading list soon. Guest Hollow uses a number of graphic novels in their history curriculum, which 13 hates. I am substituting real books where I can for him. He may need to suffer through a few graphic novels, we will see.
