The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Officially done with the 2nd A-Z library book. Jordy Bingham is an assistant to a cranky old woman who gets a mysterious visitor. The mysterious visitor ends up being really bad news and Jordy gets fired. Wanting to vindicate herself, she decides to investigate the mysterious visitor, which almost gets her killed. The Wolf Widow is all about stopping the cranky old woman from dying and proving the mysterious visitor is a murderer.
The Good – Language was all good and there were no sex scenes. There is a rather voluptuous female character and that character is used as a decoy, but for the most part it was super clean. There were a few really likeable characters as well, which made it a pleasant read.
The Bad – This is the only book my library has in the series (this is the 3rd book). I didn’t even know it was a series until after I read it, but I had a feeling the whole way through because I felt like I was missing big chunks of the story. That is more on me, but it did make it not as enjoyable to read. This was a beach read, fluffy and something meant to be set down when done and forgotten.
When you are reading the book, you know what is going on the whole time. I didn’t know exactly what the mysterious visitor was blackmailing the cranky old lady about, but honestly by the time we got to that, I didn’t care. I knew someone else was involved in the crime because of all the foreshadowing thrown around about not trusting anyone and that she needed to be careful of who she talked to. There just wasn’t a real gotcha moment.
The Ugly – The way Jordy talks about and treats her Uncle Kev is terrible. It isn’t even funny, and I think it is meant to be funny. I can see where he can be a frustrating person to deal with, but honestly, no one else is helping her and she has zero gratitude towards him. It really made me not like the book. Jordy is just an extremely self absorbed character and I didn’t really care for her as the protagonist.
Now on the the next A book!
