Have you ever started something thinking it was the best idea ever… then you start doing it and realize it was quite possibly one of your less clever ventures? That is where I am at with the Epic A-Z quest. To recap: the Epic A-Z quest was me thinking it would be fun to read through every author in our library in alphabetical order. I am five books in presently.

There are a few problems with the quest. First, there are books that I just can’t read. I won’t read certain genres and there are subjects that I find taboo. I also found that I was reading quite a bit of craptastic stuff and by me checking it out, it meant it was longer before that craptastic stuff got removed from the library. Prolonging and possibly exposing others to it. Finally, who wants to read my review of said craptastic stuff? I mean is anyone really going to read a review of book they have never heard of that is craptastic? My goal was to find the diamond in the rough, but so far its just been rough.

I am doing a reset! I have decided to change the parameters of the Epic A-Z quest, it might not be quite as epic anymore but it will be more tolerable to me. I am going to go through alphabetically still, but instead of grabbing the next book and reading it, I am going to read authors and/or books that actually interest me. So, it is a culling on the front end that may save me tears on the backend! I am returning the books I have on Monday and selectively picking up a set of books!
