Audiobook/TV Show
While I was sick and not able to read (massive headaches), I listened to the His & Hers Audiobook by Alice Feeney. It is a story told from two perspectives, and if you can’t guess, its from his perspective and her perspective. It is a couple that seperated after the death of their daughter. The story revolves around the deaths of a group of women who were once besties in high school, until (drum roll) one night . . .
Alice Feeney is one of the queens of misdirection. There is the “her” story, which at times drops hints at different people and their motives. There is the “him” story, which totally makes him look guilty at times or makes her look guilty at times. At times the “him” story even makes his police partner look guilty. There is a third narrator, which is the actual killer. This was a super interesting part because in the audiobook the third narrator is a male sounding voice, which even though you know its voice distortion really makes your mind think the killer is male. The only real male character in the story is “him”.
The whole mystery, besides who did it, is what happened to make these people not be friends anymore. It was a twist I didn’t really see coming and gutted me because of my own issues. It was real and horrible and I wanted to stop listening. But, of course, I had to know who did it.
I have only watched a few episodes of the Netflix show so far. I am having a hard time with it because the main actress looks just like Candace Owens and thats all I can think about when I watch it. Also, two episodes in, they have changed a ton of the story. I am not a visual reader. I am an emotional reader. Watching the movies or tv shows generally help flush out a story for me and even if they aren’t the same, I enjoy them. This one, not so much yet. We will see!
